Julius Corsini Elementary School was an existing school that was expanded with new buildings and play areas. This project with Flewelling and Moody highlights the bold architecture of the modern buildings with equally bold plantings of Palo Verde trees and other desertscape plantings. The perpetually windy area led to the incorporation of desert Junipers as wind breaks and lightweight tree types that wouldn't create too much of a wind load and lead to breakage.
