This traditional home in the hills of Calabasas makes significant use of bluestone to create the feel of an upstate New York home. The owners requested a modern approach and even with the generous use of stone, the overall design is simple and clean.

The pool includes a fountain centered on the rear door that acts as a focal point from inside the house especially at night when it is lit from below. There is a continuous seat shelf along that same side so their young children can sit under the fountain spillway and a shallow end that includes a generous “Baja shelf” with 15” of water. At the far end of the pool is an open cabana w/ closable draperies.

The outdoor living space includes a large stone fireplace with comfortable “living room” seating; wood storage and a closet for a TV and DVD for nighttime movies. The dining area has a barbeque and serving counter nearby with a striking modern stone wall that has vertical open slots through to the pool area and an overhead trellis.
A side courtyard includes a small fountain, trellis, and large weeping shade tree.
